چکیده
Copyright © 2007 Massachusetts Medical Society. A 51-year-old woman presents with a generalized tonic–clonic seizure. After a brief postictal period, she recovers fully and does not report headache or other neurologic symptoms. She takes no medications and her medical history is unremarkable. Computed tomography of the head suggests a right occipital arteriovenous malformation, without evidence of hemorrhage. Computed tomographic angiography, magnetic resonance imaging, and magnetic resonance angiography of the brain show a right occipital arteriovenous malformation, 3.5 cm in diameter, as well as a feeding-artery aneurysm, 1.5 cm in diameter. How should her case be further evaluated and managed?

The Synergistic Effect of Bleomycin, Triamcinolone and Epinephrine in Treatment of Hemangioma and Arteriovenous Malformations
BACKGROUND Hemangioma is the most common tumor of neonatal period and it is almost always appeared by the end of the first week of life and can be found mostly in head and neck area. This study evaluated the synergistic effect of bleomycin, triamcinolone and epinephrine in treatment of hemangioma and arte-riovenous malformations. METHODS In this multicenter study, a combination of bleomycin,...

Background: Arteriovenous malformations are one of the most common vascular disorders of the colon. Vascular disorders present as painless, high-volume rectal bleeding. Case Presentation: This study elucidates two rare cases of vascular disorders that are diagnosed as angiodysplasia of the left colon and cavernous hemangioma of the colon and rectum. The chief complaint in two patients ...
متن کاملLong term effects of Gamma knife Radiosurgery for treatment of cerebral arteriovenous malformations
Abstract Background: The Gamma Knife Radiosurgery (GKR) is an established management option for Cerebral Ar-teriovenous Malformations (AVMS). Therapeutic benefits of radiosurgery for arteriovenous malformations are complete obliteration of nidus with minimal neurological deficit. Methods: Radiosurgery was performed between February 2003 and April 2010 at Kamraniye day clinic, Teh-ran, Iran, us...
متن کاملPeriventricular Location as a Risk Factor for Hemorrhage and Severe Clinical Presentation in Pediatric Patients with Untreated Brain Arteriovenous Malformations.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The morphologic features of brain arteriovenous malformations differ between children and adults; therefore, our aim was to analyze various features of brain arteriovenous malformations to assess the risk of hemorrhage in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS We identified all consecutive children admitted to Beijing Tiantan Hospital for brain arteriovenous malformations betw...
متن کاملLinking Brain Arteriovenous Malformations With Anorectal Hemorrhoids: A Clinical and Anatomical Review
Patients who harbor brain arteriovenous malformations are at risk for intracranial hemorrhage. These malformations are often seen in inherited vascular diseases such as hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. However, malformations within the brain also sporadically occur without a hereditary-coding component. Here, we review recent insights into the pathophysiology of arteriovenous malformation...
متن کاملNotch-1 signalling is activated in brain arteriovenous malformations in humans.
A role for the Notch signalling pathway in the formation of arteriovenous malformations during development has been suggested. However, whether Notch signalling is involved in brain arteriovenous malformations in humans remains unclear. Here, we performed immunohistochemistry on surgically resected brain arteriovenous malformations and found that, compared with control brain vascular tissue, No...
